Pastoral Council approved a Parish Vision, Mission, and Values Statement
Earlier this year the parish staff began the process of creating a Vision Statement for our parish. The purpose of this statement is to help all of the employees and volunteers on our staff and in our various groups, committees and ministries to understand and work toward a common goal. A draft of the statement was taken to the pastoral council in May, when it was suggested it also include values. A Vision, Mission, and Values Statement was drafted then shared by council and staff members with many groups within our parish for feedback. At the September meeting of the pastoral council the following statement was approved:
St. Gregory Barbarigo Vision, Mission, and Values Statement
Vision: St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Parish strives to be a joyful, growing, faith-filled community of disciples of Christ. Our community invites everyone to know and share the merciful love of Jesus. Mission: We, the members of St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, are called forth in baptism to follow the mission of Jesus to teach, to love, and to serve. Values:
Education - Catholic education in our school, religious education programs, sacrament preparation, youth groups, and adult faith formation. St. Catherine of Siena said, “Love follows knowledge”.
Liturgy - Joyful celebration of sacraments in accordance with the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) that inspires all in attendance to encounter Jesus in the Eucharist.
Catholic Unity - We are all God’s children. We strive to be a community where people of diverse backgrounds are welcomed into and united by the Catholic faith. We continuously grow together by sharing prayer in Mass, ministry, and small faith groups, and asking for guidance from the Holy Spirit.
Discipleship - We strive to be a community of disciples and disciple-makers. The parish exists to serve Jesus by serving others.
Generosity - Guided by the Holy Spirit we seek to share the Gospel and our blessings with those in need in order to build up the kingdom of God.
