Many thanks for your cards and gifts for Easter and then my birthday. You are so thoughtful! I do not know if I will be able to thank you all individually – I know the greetings from the students in the school by themselves have overwhelmed me, not to mention the cards and “well wishes” from all of you. FYI, the children’s greetings are on the windows to the Parish Hall where the students can see them as they eat lunch.
A number of parishioners went to Conception for Divine Mercy Sunday services, along with Abbey guests, seminarians and monks. Most of the staff are exhausted after the Easter and Easter week services, and it was nice to attend something at the Abbey rather than put it on ourselves. If there are those who would like to do something similar here next year, then we should start planning in advance. I spent my time over there in the confessional, so was not able to partake in the prayer service. The response was good, and I think that those who went enjoyed the experience. I know that I was busy the whole hour and then some hearing confessions.
The Parish Council elected Russ Schuster as the President, Charles Mayfield as the Vice President, and I am the Secretary. The contact information for the Ex Officio members, Angela Byers as Business Manager, Karma Coleman as the Principal, and Fr. Albert as the Pastor, can be found in the bulletin. We will publish the bulletin minutes and agenda on our web site (StGregorysMaryville.org) under the menu. There will also be a copy in the Gathering Space in the Parish Information Center where you can find bulletins, days for special collections, registration forms, etc. Our next meeting is May 19 at 6 PM in the school library.
I am getting away May 8 – 11. Someone from Conception Abbey will cover for me on the weekend, and he will be doing the Blessing of the Child in the Womb on Mother’s Day. My vacation will be June 27th – July 14.
