Description: The Head Usher makes sure others are available during Mass to help.
Ushers assist at weekend Masses. Their duties include setting up reserved pews, seating the congregation, coordinating the gifts to the altar, collecting the offering, counting the number of people in attendance, distributing the bulletin and other materials as needed, and assisting in emergencies.
Volunteers: Those wishing to serve as an usher should sign up in the Parish Office. Although there is no special training, new ushers do receive instructions and guidance from veteran ushers.
Description: Being a Server is one way that younger parishioners can be active in the parish. Servers assist the Priest during the Mass by doing such duties as carrying the cross, holding the sacramentary book for the priest, and presenting the bread, wine, and water to the priest. Being a server is a wonderful way for youth to learn more about their faith, to become an active parishioner, and to learn responsibility.
Training: Once the student has informed the parish that he/she would like to be a server, a short training session is scheduled. If needed, the server can receive additional support until he/she feels comfortable with the duties.
Volunteers: Youth—both males and females—in grades 3-12 serve at weekend Masses on a rotating basis.
